Bringing relevance to the unordinary

I kind of have a thing for brown boots. These ones from Zevin are too fresh. The perfectly cherry colored leather, the custom silver eyelets, and leather laces made from goat hide (goat hide???). What really attracts me to these though is the fact that each pair of boots is personally handmade, the leather is meticulously inspected, and they come delivered in the coolest wooden shoe box, yes wooden, that you’ve never seen. I love brands that find a way to personalize what seem like standardized products. Whats even more incredible to me…the kicks only cost $159. For handmade genuine leather boots! Incredible, Zevin, do you…I’m a fan.

mypantalones:

Yesterday was a great day for menswear in Philadelphia. I had been talking to Kendrick of A Distinctive Taste and The Selected Few for a while about coming up to Philly, and with some help from the Commonwealth Proper team that proposal came to be.

Kendrick and Grant (together The Selected Few team) got into the city at around eleven, and from Rittenhouse Square we made our way to Commonwealth Proper, bespoke suiting haberdashery and showroom a few blocks away. I have to say that the space is one of the coolest spots I have been to in Philly, and that comes from a Philadelphia native. The place has the coolest vibe. I have a feature on the label and the space coming soon, so I’ll save the description for another post. Craig (wearing all CMMP goods, down to the pocket square) of Commonwealth Proper (Die Proper on tumblr) brought us into the place and made us some drinks. We talked about the company, as well as other gentlemanly subjects. We joined Craig’s brother and headed over to Parc for some lunch. Wale was on his lunch break, so he decided to drop by and join us for a bit.

We walked across the square to La Colombe for some amazing coffee. I went with Kendrick and Grant to a couple of Philly’s best retail locations, and after grabbing a drink, went back to the CMMP showroom. We spent over an hour trying on blazers and shirts and marveling over the quality and character of the goods. The guys at CMMP were throwing a little party that night, so we (Wale came too) ended the day by talking to clients, friends, and Philadelphia fashion players over beers, eggnog, and whiskey.

I was extremely lucky to spend the day with some truly passionate, talented, and good guys. Not to mention, they all had a killer and unique personal style. It was great day, and I’m sure more like it remain to be seen.

The kid MP is putting in work. You should definitely follow.

My friend is cooler than your friend.

aha…so thats how they do it. interesting…

I’ve always associated the corduroy blazer with 2 things. 1.) My creepy uncle that always got too close to my ex when I brought her to family functions.
2.) This real scumbag ( I mean that in the most endearing way possible, I fucking love the kid) in my fraternity. This kid wears his corduroy blazer with gym shorts sometimes.
But yeah, so I never really would ever consider wearing a cord blazer myself but this dark velveteen colored one from Cucinelli is dope. I love the way the dude in the picture pairs it with a textured tie and the polka-dot pocket square. Ton of stuff going on in this little picture, I wish I could see the rest of this guys get-up.

Damn, posts have been slacking lately. Been wayyy too busy over here with finals week, but I was browsing and wanted to throw these up on the blog. I was told about a month ago I look a lot cooler when I’m wearing a hat, so I’ve been big into beanies lately. These are all pretty cool, but I really like the the cream and green one on the far right. Also a big shoutout to DQM, Daves Quality Meat, a real sick brand. You can find their shop over on 3rd street in NY. When I first started to really care about what I wore I was always up on the streetwear brands, and DQM was one of the names that resonated with me.
